About Dr Catherine Carroll
With over 20 years’ experience in the education sector, spanning research, teaching, and leadership, I have held senior academic roles at UCL Institute of Education, the University of Roehampton, and St Mary’s University. Alongside this, I have built a career in schools, teaching in both mainstream and specialist settings, where I held head of faculty and pastoral leadership roles.
Previously, as co-Director of the Wellbeing in Education Research Centre at St Mary’s University, I provided research leadership on education workforce wellbeing and organisational development, working closely with practitioners, leaders and policymakers to translate evidence into practice. At UCL, I set up with Gill Brackenbury, a supervision training course for educators wanting to train as supervisors.
I have written numerous reports, peer reviewed journal articles and other publications, including a book on the education of care experienced children and young people. Beyond education, I have worked internationally as a training officer with the British Red Cross and the RSPCA. I am an experienced MAT trustee and school Chair of Governors.
