About Ceri Westcott

My commitment is to reflective practice that is compassionate, creative and courageous.

I take a pluralistic approach to supervision, drawing on the theoretical approaches that best meet the needs of you and your clients. In particular I make use of compassion focussed therapy; psychodynamic concepts such as countertransference and defences; creative and play based approaches and critical theory.

I am a qualified clinical supervisor and BACP accredited psychotherapeutic counsellor.  Before training as a therapist I worked as a teaching assistant and then for more than ten years in local authority children’s services with children looked after and children with SEND. After qualifying, I worked for several years in the domestic abuse sector developing and delivering therapeutic services for safe-parents and children.  I have extensive experience of providing training on domestic abuse and trauma-informed practice.  I now work in private practice, focussing on offering supervision to organisations and professionals who are supporting children and families and/or working with education settings.  Alongside this I offer teaching to adults on counselling courses. I am currently conducting PhD research into teacher wellbeing, exploring the systemic as well as individual factors that impact teacher wellbeing.

My hope is that in supervision we can co-create a ‘brave space’; a place that can slow things down in order to look at them closely, a relational and creative space that builds growth and also requires candour and curiosity. If this is what you are looking for in supervision then please do reach out and we can explore how we might work together.
