Dr Pippa Osborne

Having been a teacher for over 20 years and a headteacher for 10, I am acutely aware of the rising pressures that senior leaders within schools are facing. The increasing safeguarding, mental health needs, SEND needs, financial pressures and expectations from all stakeholders are placing leaders at risk of vicarious trauma, secondary traumatic stress and diminishing their wellbeing. Additionally it is leading to greater attrition from the profession. My research explores the existing support systems and makes the case for professional supervision to be fully funded and offered to every headteacher in the UK. I am now furthering my research and training in supervision to be able to support colleagues across the education sector.
