About Gillian Airey Goodwin

With over 30 years’ experience in primary education, I bring a deep understanding of the realities of teaching today. I continue to teach part-time, ensuring my work remains grounded in the everyday challenges educators face. Alongside this, I hold a master’s degree in psychology specializing in Mental Health and Wellbeing and founded Goldfinch Enterprises to support those working in education.

Supervision provides a confidential, reflective space to process the emotional demands of teaching, increase self-awareness, strengthen professional practice, and reduce the risk of stress and burnout. It enables educators to feel supported, valued, and better equipped to sustain their wellbeing throughout their careers.  I am passionate about helping educators remain in the profession they love by building sustainable wellbeing, confidence, and resilience so they can continue making a positive difference to future generations.

My mission is to help educators protect their wellbeing through regular supervision using practical, evidence-based psychological strategies. I design and deliver training for teachers, trainees and early career teachers, helping them develop resilience, emotional intelligence, and the skills to manage stress, conflict, guilt, and unhelpful thinking. A key focus is encouraging progress over perfection and self-awareness so educators can thrive without sacrificing their wellbeing.
